Gillian Kruss

Gill works as the Metastatic Breast Cancer Nurse Practitioner at Monash Health 3 days a week and is the Chief Clinical Lead for Education for the McGrath Foundation 2 days a week. Having worked for more than 25 years in various oncology, clinical trials, breast cancer and palliative care settings, she has also completed her Bachelor of Nursing, two post graduate diplomas (Gerontology and Oncology/Palliative Care Nursing) and a Masters of Nurse Practitioner. She has a special interest in teaching Australian breast care nurses to provide optimal supportive care to those with metastatic breast cancer and is co-leading the implementation and research of a specialized national training program to upskill these nurses. As the Deputy Chair of the Cancer Nurses Society of Australia’s Cancer Nurse Practitioner Specialist Practice Network, she is part of a dynamic team who organizes education for Australian Cancer Nurse Practitioners. In this role, she is currently leading the research and development of a mentoring program for novice cancer nurse practitioners to help them transition better to working in endorsed nurse practitioner roles.
