Vicki Durston

With over 30 years of health leadership experience, Vicki Durston is a leading advocate for breast cancer policy reform in Australia. As Director of Policy, Advocacy & Support Services at Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA), she drives efforts to ensure equitable access to support and services for all Australians affected by breast cancer. A key focus of her work has been expanding BCNA’s internationally recognised Consumer Representative ‘Seat At The Table’ program, empowering those with lived experiences—including those living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC)—to influence cancer research, policy, and supportive care. Vicki also serves on the board of the Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC) Global Alliance, reinforcing her commitment to global advocacy for breast cancer care. At the 2025 National Cancer Survivorship Conference, with a particular focus on breaking down past perceptions of survivorship that often excluded people living with MBC. Her advocacy emphasises that survivorship must truly encompass all individuals living with cancer, including those for whom the disease is ongoing, to ensure inclusive care and support systems. Her work continues to reshape the narrative of survivorship, ensuring that the experiences of those living with MBC drive the future direction of cancer care, research, and policy to address unmet needs.
